The Basics of the Daystar Center

Why?  The Daystar Center exists to build community – enriching lives through belonging. We agree with M. Scott Peck who first said, "In and through community lies the salvation of the world."

How?  The primary means through which we build community is via Arts and Culture. We believe that Arts & Culture transform communities and bring people together in ways that nothing else can.

What?  The Daystar Center operates an Arts and Culture Collective to offer private lessons and group classes to promote the well being of members of the community who have few opportunities for learning, recreation, and enjoyment.

Who?  The Daystar Center is overseen by a Board of Directors, leaders who are passionate about building community. As an public charity, 501(c)3 organization, we depend on the involvement of individuals in many different ways.  For example, our work is funded through the support of private donors, not government or religious sources.

When?  The Daystar Center opened in March, 2011. We have activities throughout the evenings and weekends.  Visit our calendar for details.

Where?  The Daystar Center is located in the heart of the South Loop at 1550 S. State Street. Our building also houses Daystar School and Overflow Coffee Bar. It is a privilege to have Daystar School as our parent organization and Overflow as a key partner. You will find our facilities are a warm, community atmosphere where people, young and old, are front and center.
